Understanding the role of nutrition

According to the latest estimates from the CDC, as many as 1 in 50 kids in U.S. schools have Autism or an Autism related disorder such as Asperger’s syndrome. While only decades ago Autism was 1 in 10,000, this staggering number has been growing dramatically (last year's estimate of one in 88 schoolchildren).

While no cause for the condition has been uncovered, as many as 50 % of people with Autism may have gastro-intestinal issues of some type. Some parents of Autism Spectrum children have also reported that changes in their children’s diets have been helpful for both the gastro-intestinal issues as well as some behavioral. One of the more common dietary changes for children on the Autism Spectrum is a Gluten & Casein (GFCF) Free diet.
